What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar browser feature that lets a site keep small pieces of data on your device. Both can remember your preferences. Some are also used to measure audiences or to show advertising.

PDFlora keeps the number of items small. Your PDF files are never stored in cookies or local storage, and none of these items contains file names, file contents or OCR text.

Essential and functional items

These items make the site work the way you expect and remember your choices. They do not need your consent because they are necessary to provide the features you request, and they are not used to track you across other websites. There are three:

• NEXT_LOCALE (cookie). Purpose: remembers your chosen interface language so that you land on the right version of the site. Duration: 1 year.
• theme (local storage). Purpose: remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode. Duration: stays in your browser until you change it or clear site data.
• consent-v1 (local storage). Purpose: remembers your cookie choice, so we do not ask you again on every visit and so that analytics and advertising only run if you accepted them. Duration: stays in your browser until you change it or clear site data.

Signature stored on your device

The Sign PDF tool keeps your signature only for the current browser session. If you explicitly choose 'remember on this device', the signature is saved in your browser's local storage so you can reuse it. It stays on your device, is not sent to us and can be removed by clearing your browser's site data.

Analytics cookies (only after consent)

If the operator has enabled analytics, and only after you accept, the site uses Google Analytics 4. Google Analytics sets its own cookies in your browser, typically with names that start with _ga, to tell visits apart and to count anonymous events.

The events we record are limited to the tool name, the interface language, the tool category and an event type such as file selected, processing completed or download clicked. We never record file names, file contents or OCR text. IP anonymization is on by default in Google Analytics 4. The exact names and durations of these cookies are defined by Google and may change.

• Provider: Google (Google Analytics 4).
• Purpose: anonymous measurement of how tools are used, to improve them.
• Condition: only if enabled by the operator and only after you consent.

Advertising cookies (only after consent)

If the operator has enabled advertising, and only after you accept, the site can show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies or use similar identifiers in your browser to serve ads, to measure them and to limit how often you see the same ad.

The names, purposes and lifetimes of these cookies are defined by Google and its partners, and they can change without notice to us. The site tells Google whether you consented through Google consent mode. If you reject advertising, or later withdraw consent, these cookies are not used for ads on this site.

Third-party requests that are not cookies

The OCR tool downloads its engine and language files from the public jsDelivr CDN the first time you use it. This request does not set cookies for us, but the CDN can see your IP address and standard request information. Your documents are never sent there. Read more in the Privacy Policy.

How to change or withdraw your consent

The first time you visit, the site asks you to accept or reject optional cookies. You can change your mind at any time: click the 'Cookie settings' link in the footer of any page, then update your choices. Your new choice is saved and applies from that moment.

Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. After you withdraw, analytics and advertising stop running on this site. Cookies that were already set by third parties may remain in your browser until you delete them, and you can remove them as described below.

Managing cookies in your browser

All modern browsers let you block, delete or restrict cookies and site data, either for all sites or for specific ones. Look for the privacy or site data settings of your browser. If you delete the NEXT_LOCALE cookie, the site will fall back to detecting your language again. If you delete local storage entries, the site will reset your theme and ask for your cookie choice again.

Blocking all cookies, including the essential ones, may prevent the language and theme preferences from being remembered, but the PDF tools themselves keep working.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the cookies or the tools change, for example if a new analytics or advertising provider is added. The date of the latest update is shown on this page. If a change requires new consent, the site will ask you again.
