To the extent permitted by law, PDFlora is not liable for loss or damage arising from the use of, or the inability to use, the site or its tools, including loss of data, lost profits or consequences of relying on a result. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, and it does not affect the rights you have as a consumer where these cannot be waived.

Always check the output

You are responsible for checking every file before you use, send or publish it, and you should keep the original. Tools rewrite, re-render or convert documents, and the result can differ from the source.

This is particularly true for conversions. A PDF converted to Word, Excel or PowerPoint may lose columns, tables, images, fonts or exact layout. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HTML to PDF are processed on our server with LibreOffice or WeasyPrint, and substituted fonts, complex layouts, macros or embedded objects may change how the document looks. Animations and transitions are not preserved, and external resources in HTML are not fetched.

OCR accuracy

Text recognition is never perfect. Its accuracy depends on scan quality, resolution, contrast, skew, language and the fonts used, and handwriting is not reliably recognised. Names, numbers, dates, amounts and other details can be misread.

Compare recognised text with the original before you rely on it for anything important, such as legal, financial or medical records.

Signatures are not certified digital signatures

The Sign PDF tool places a visual signature, such as a drawn, typed or uploaded image, on a page. It is not a cryptographic or certified digital signature and does not prove who signed or that the document has not changed afterwards.

Whether a visual signature is accepted depends on the country, the type of document and the party who receives it. If a document requires a qualified or certified electronic signature, use a service that provides one. Nothing on this site is legal advice.

Redaction, sanitising and metadata

Redact PDF, Sanitize PDF, Remove PDF Metadata and Flatten PDF are designed to reduce what a file discloses, but no automatic tool can guarantee that every piece of sensitive information has gone. Some content can sit in places that a tool does not inspect, and some PDFs are unusual or damaged.

Before sharing a file that contains sensitive or confidential data, open the result, try to select and search the text you meant to remove, check the document properties, and consider having a second person review it. Cropping, white boxes and watermarks only hide or mark content and do not remove it.

Passwords cannot be recovered

When you protect a PDF with a password, we cannot recover it if you lose it. We do not keep your passwords or your files, and we do not offer a way to guess or crack unknown passwords. Keep the password and an unprotected copy in a safe place.

Permission restrictions such as blocking printing or copying are only respected by cooperating PDF software and are not a strong security measure. The Unlock PDF tool is meant for files you are entitled to open.

Links, third parties and availability

The site may link to other websites, and some features rely on third-party services, for example a public content delivery network that supplies the text-recognition engine on first use, hosting providers and, where enabled and consented to, analytics and advertising services. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices.

We may change, suspend or remove tools and features at any time, and we may limit usage to protect the service. Server-based conversions have size and time limits.
