How it works

What the report shows
The tool reads the file and lists its main facts: number of pages, file size, PDF version, and the size of each page. It also tells you whether the document is encrypted, whether it contains form fields or JavaScript, and whether it is tagged, which means it carries a structure used by screen readers and accessibility software.
Below that come the document metadata (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, dates), the fonts used, the number of embedded images and the number of file attachments. Nothing is changed and nothing is saved: the report is for looking at, and the file is read locally in your browser.

Checking an upload limit
A portal accepts only A4 files under a page limit. You confirm the page size and count before you attempt the upload.
Deciding how to shrink a file
A big file with 200 embedded images points to Compress PDF; a big file with many fonts points somewhere else. The counts tell you where the weight is.
Reviewing a file before sharing
You confirm that the document has no attachments or scripts and see what author and creator it will reveal, then decide whether to use Sanitize PDF.
Diagnosing why a file misbehaves
A PDF will not print or open in one program. Seeing that it is encrypted, or uses an unusual version, points to the cause.
Checking accessibility readiness
A public-sector team asks whether their export is tagged. The report answers in a second.
Supported formats

Files above 200 MB or 2,000 pages are refused with a message.
Good to know
- The tool reports; it does not repair or edit. To change properties, use PDF Metadata Editor, and to fix a broken file use Repair PDF.
- Encrypted PDFs that need a password to open cannot be read in full; unlock them first with Unlock PDF.
- Counts such as fonts and images come from the file's structure and may differ from what a person sees on the page in unusual files.
- Very large or damaged files may take a while or fail to load depending on your device's memory.

What information does PDF Information show?
It shows the page count, file size, PDF version, page sizes, whether the file is encrypted, has forms or JavaScript or is tagged, the document metadata, the fonts used, the number of embedded images and the number of attachments.
Is my PDF uploaded to read its properties?
No. The file is read in your browser and stays on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
What does a tagged PDF mean?
A tagged PDF carries a structure that marks headings, paragraphs and lists, which screen readers and accessibility tools use to read the document in order. An untagged file may still look fine but is harder to navigate by assistive software.
Why does the report show my name as the author?
Many programs fill the author field automatically from your user account. You can change it with PDF Metadata Editor or clear it with Remove PDF Metadata.
Can this tool fix or shrink the file?
No. It only reports. Use Compress PDF to reduce size and Repair PDF for files that will not open properly.
